Welcome to my blog!!

I have so enjoyed FB and blogging. I love reading others, friends, and younger people who are so good with words. It is my prayer that I be a servant to others. To lead them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ is of chief importance to me. My work at the Cancer Center gave me many opportunities to do just that; the center was part of a Catholic institution that had ...."in the Spirit of Jesus Christ"..... in the Mission Statement. God gave me a boldness like never before. I also love journal keeping. I have several. The one I am currently using will run out before Dec. 31. I love it; it has a photo of the four grandchildren, Peyton, Paige, Reese, and Sully on it. Plus a Christmas greeting on the inside page. I keep sermon notes and daily stuff on those pages. Mike said, "Do you ever go back and read what you write?" Answer YES. Regularly.

Upward Basketball is on!!!

Great is Thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father~ Our 5th season of Upward Basketball has started. Danville Head Basketball Coach happens to be my nephew-in-law, and we all go to church at Calvary Baptist in Danville. Our first season, we had 50 kids. The next year it doubled. The next year we were up to almost a triple. This year we have 300 kids. Praise the Lord of the Harvest. It takes a lot of people to get this thing going. Refs, coaches, time keepers, assistant coaches, light and sound men/women, concessions, and maybe most importantly, those who give their testimony at the half time of each game. Games are on Friday even for the kindergarteners. Older kids on Saturday start 8am end at 9pm,Whewwwww.....There are 100 people signed up to pray throughout the event and for several weeks before. That could be more important even than the testimonies. Coach Tidwell brought the idea to the church. It is a well oiled machine. Everything that is done is for a reason. Kids wear colored wrist band and that tell them who to guard. They change that whenever the refs or coaches tell them to. The audience is well behaved, and listen intently to the testimonies. What a wonderful way to spread the gospel. I am privileged to be a part of it, in a small way. I pray, do concessions, and give 2 testimonies. Others spend many many hours preparing and doing their jobs. Kudoos to all of you. May be Lord bless us all.
