Holy Week
This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. As this is Maunday Thursday, I would like to ask God's blessings on all my family and friends during this celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. When I was a kid, Easter meant getting up real early to get to the country church my parents and I attended to start on the Easter breakfast. It had to be ready before the Sunrise service, you know. It wasn't donuts and coffee. We're talking eggs, ham, toast, juice in those little bittie glasses that I love. Mother still has some in her cupboard. I believe I usually got a new dress and shoes. Mother and I often dressed alike, as our store, Mary Sue's, had mother-daughter dresses. I think they just got them in for us!!! Dresses for the girls now days are all sleeveless and real summery (get out the cardigans, moms). They are pretty but need more material. Just an opinion. My dad wore a suit that day. When I was little, he wore his best pair of overalls. Nicely ironed by Mother, of course. I never wore pants, didn't even have any til high school, then I couldn't wear them to school. No one did back then. Sometimes we could wear pants under our dresses when it was bitter cold. Gee, I sound like someone in their 90's, don't I? It's just that times have really changed in the last 60-70 years. Anyway, Happy Easter to all of you out there. May Jesus who arose bless you richly. F
